NEW YORK (PIX11) –  Ava DuVernay is one of the more celebrated contemporary filmmakers working today. Her new film, “Origin,” is an adaptation of Pulitzer prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson’s “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.” It’s an important story that DuVernay wants to shed light on and urges audiences to go see.

DuVernay recently joined New York Living to talk about what inspired her to adapt “Origin” into a film and the untraditional way she funded the production. “Origin” is now playing all across New York City, and here are the theaters in which you can go see it.
